Collaboration Project 2

Aidoo's Sketch

Video Snapshot

The second of two collaborations for the semester this year. This one features the work of Aidoo K. Harry of the blog 'ahkindofLettering'. This collaboration began with a sketch by Aidoo. I brought the sketch into Blender and turned it into a 3d object which could then be animated. I can use this short animation for my book launch project which features the use of ampersands. You can view the video here.

Collaboration Project 1

This is the first of two collaborations that are required for the course this semester. For this project I decided to work with Cheryl Griffith of the blog "Life Breath Poetry". We recorded of a video of her doing one of her poems. Later, I imported the video into Blender and used the built in video editor and the 3d elements of the program to add an intro and overlay some images. You can view the final video here.

Project in a project.

Project Animation.

As luck would have it, I have to create a short animation for another class I'm doing this semester. This animation is a short 30 second commercial for a book launch advertisement. I can use this project to help with the content for this blog. Along the way, I can share some of my thought processes of how I work in Blender. Critiques and comments are welcome and encouraged.

Channel Intros

One of the many uses of Blender is as a tool to create YouTube intros for vloggers and Youtubers. Channel intros are usually 5 to 10 seconds long and are like the intros you see to movies and television programs. They are also known as the title sequence. There are many tutorials available on-line that can be customized to create a short intro for your vlog or YouTube channel. Having a catchy intro is a great way to attract people to your content and make them come back for more.

Blank Canvas.

Blender's blank canvas.
All creative persons begin with their own version of a blank canvas. Whether it be a blank piece of paper, or a a real piece of canvas or a computer screen, we all start from scratch. What comes through on our canvas is up to us as the artist, writer or photographer.

Lack of focus.

For years I've been telling myself that I need to focus. This is especially true when it comes to my creative future. Many blogs and videos have been made telling people that you won't succeed in the art or design without being able to focus. Focus on a skill, focus on a style, focus on a career... I've always been interested in many different fields when in comes to design and art. I like photography, graphic design, traditional art, film and 3d modelling.

It's The Artist not the Tool.

Mario Maker by Albron

I made the decision a while ago not the steal software to further my creative journey. Some people may say that without the 'proper' software, one could never have a career in the creative industries. Whether it be in film, graphic design or photography, I have always believed that it is the skill of the artist and not the tools that the artist uses that is most important.

Learning Blender 3D.

Beginner learning resources.

This is a little guide that I hope to make into a regular feature of the blog. There are a lot of sites and resources available for persons who are new to Blender and wish to learn about the features of the software.

For beginners I would recommend Tutor4u's Blender tutorials on YouTube.
Tutor4u's Blender Tutorials
His  Blender tutorials are well explained and easy to follow. The YouTube format allows for easy replays and pauses so you can catch up and follow along at your own pace. Give this channel a try and let me know in the comments what you think about this great Blender 3D learning resource.

Why I Use Blender 3D

Good day again everyone!!
Late for work! Chasing a taxi.

SO WHY BLENDER?

To make a long story short, (and it is a long story...) I can't afford the expensive, industry standard programs that creatives use. I got into using open source programing because of this. I'm not a fan of using bootleg versions of paid software. I wouldn't want someone using my artwork, or anything thing I create, for free and making money off of it, so I wouldn't want to do that to the creators of the popular graphic design software.

In the future, if I can afford one of these programs; and I need it to do my work, then maybe I’ll purchase it. I'll go into the different ways I use Blender in my work flow in another post. For now I'll just invite everyone to try it and see how it works for them.

Blender 3D

Good day and welcome to the Blender 3D Project. The aim of this blog is twofold. First, I need to get back to working more frequently in the program, and I'm hoping that keeping a blog will help with that. Secondly, this blog will will serve as a sharing and learning platform, not just for myself, but for people who follow my blog and members of the Blender 3D Users Group (Trinidad & Tobago) I have on Facebook. So, once again, "Welcome!"... Time to get to work.
